Tent for Sale
What
is next after you purchased a new tent? You should know how to take care of it.
Tent maintenance is easy. Unless the one you own is as big as a marquee then it’s
quite understandable having second thoughts.
A
tent is tough against strong winds or rain but it is subject to wear and tear. Keeping
your tent in good and top condition could prolong its use. You will probably buy
a new one if you overlook this task. Moreover, it could be more expensive
compared to the price of cleaning it yourself.
Another
reason is you’re hesitant to do it because you may aggravate your tent’s
condition. Well, it could be hard the first time simply because you have no
idea. Once you get a hang of it, you will do it like a pro.
We
listed some of the basics below:
- Clean it after use. Don’t hold over a few days before you do it. The moment you arrive at your house and you’re not that tired, start cleaning it up. Dirt, mildew, mould, and any stains will leave a permanent mark on your tent.
- Choose a sunny day. One of the important things you should remember when you clean your tent is it should be dried thoroughly. Schedule it on a bright sunny day.
- Do not machine wash it. A tent is made from durable materials but a tumble in the tub will destroy your tent in an instant.
- Keep it in a dark and dry storage. After drying it under the sun, store it in a cool and dry place.
- Put up the tent when cleaning it. This way you will able to cover all the corners needed some dusting and scrubbing.
- Don’t use detergents or any cleaning agent. This may remove the waterproof coating of your tent. Use only mild soap or tent cleaner if you can afford it.
- Don’t ignore the zippers. Dust it off using a toothbrush to remove tiny particles accumulated in it. Lubricate it to prevent corrosion.
- Seal holes immediately. There are products in the market where you can readily fix the tiny hole in your tent.
- Reproof only when necessary. The main purpose of staying inside a tent is to prevent being wet in the rain. Apply or spray a waterproofing solution on the tent’s surface if there is a sign the coat is thinning or fading out.
- Check the other parts. Tent pegs and poles are subject to bending or breaking while guy lines are prone to fraying and damage. You don’t have to worry if you have a spare at home else you should buy a new one in your nearest camping store.
- The last tip we can give is if it won’t hurt your budget, better purchase a tent repair kit and other tent cleaning materials.
